STEP 01 / SKETCH

Generate the foundation.

Set a style and tempo, hit Smart Composer, and you get a full-length composition with melody and accompaniment laid out across MIDI tracks. Or upload audio and Smart Separator splits it into clean stems. Or hum into the mic and Audio Transcription converts it to MIDI notes. Any of those starts your sketch in under two minutes.

STEP 02 / REFINE

Produce with the AI rack.

Open the rest of the AI panel — Smart Drummer for beats, Voice Clone for vocals, ChatGPT Lyrics for words. Each tool integrates as a plugin on a real track, so you keep the DAW workflow you already know. Add your own VST/AU plugins, edit notes, mix in the same window.

STEP 03 / SHIP

Export and release.

Bounce the project to WAV, MP3 or stems for further work in Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, FL Studio. Commercial licensing on the Pro tier means TuneFlow output is releasable. The plugin SDK is open source — if you want to extend the workflow with your own AI model, the GitHub is right there.

Honest read: TuneFlow is the wrong tool if you want a one-prompt-to-finished-song workflow — Suno and Udio own that lane. It is also the wrong tool if you want decades of industry adoption, an army of tutorials and a massive third-party ecosystem — that is Ableton and Logic territory. The story

A DAW for the AI era, built openly.

TuneFlow shipped with a thesis that was unusual at the time and obvious now: AI is going to change music production, and the question isn't whether AI features land inside a DAW — it's whether the DAW is built around them or grudgingly tacked them on. TuneFlow Inc. went with built-around. The Smart Composer, AI Drummer, Voice Clone, Source Separator and the rest were not bolt-ons; they were the first plugins on a plugin system that ships open source.

That openness is the second part of the bet. The Python SDK and the TypeScript SDK are public on GitHub. Anyone who can train a model can ship a plugin to the community. The platform documents the spec — plugin authors only care about modifying the song's data model, the DAW handles the rest. The AI features TuneFlow ships are themselves plugins written against the same spec.

The honest trade-offs are sitting in plain sight. The platform is young compared with Ableton or Logic. Tutorials are fewer, the industry-adoption story is still emerging, and the polish on complex AI generations can still feel formulaic. The web editor is intentionally less capable than the desktop, which is the right call but does require an upgrade for serious work.

How does Smart Composer work?
You set a style preference and tempo, hit generate, and Smart Composer produces a full-length composition with a main melody and accompaniment tracks already mapped onto MIDI in your project. Is the voice cloning ethical and safe?
Voice Clone is a powerful tool with responsibilities attached. TuneFlow lets you clone your own voice or voices you have permission to use. For commercial release the recommendation is the same as for any voice work: secure the rights to the source voice in writing. Data privacy applies: source audio you upload for cloning is processed under the platform's terms. If you are uncomfortable with cloud-side voice processing for sensitive material, use the desktop application where more of the workflow runs locally.
Web editor or desktop — what's the difference?
The web editor runs in any modern browser at no cost and covers the core DAW workflow plus essential AI features. The desktop application — macOS and Windows — unlocks the full toolset: VST, VST3 and AU plugin support, the most advanced AI features at full quality, deeper MIDI editing, and offline work. The recommended path is to start in the web editor to learn the workflow, then upgrade to desktop when you need plugins or production-grade output.
What plugin formats does TuneFlow support?
TuneFlow Desktop supports VST, VST3 and AU plugins on macOS and Windows, so the synths, samplers and effects you already own work natively inside a project. Beyond third-party plugins, TuneFlow has its own plugin system — the open-source SDK on GitHub — where any developer can write a TuneFlow plugin in Python or TypeScript. Do I need to know how to use a DAW already?

What are the honest limitations?
